Sword Care With a little preventative maintenance your sword collection will stay looking new for a long long time. Here you can find information on care of your collections Tip of the month A simple way to clean any rust on your blades is to clean it with WD40 this can clear up a lot of it. For stubborn rust, try a synthetic sanding pad such as the ones available from 3M. Use the finest grade, as to not scratch up the blade.

Sword fact of the month The first samurai swords we're actually straight bladed, single edged weapons imported from Korea and China known as chokuto, which were later replaced with the curved blade variety at the end of the 8th Century. The name of the curved blade swords which replaced them was Tachi. The reason for this transformation was samurai found that a curved sword could be drawn from the scabbard more swiftly and provided a far more effective cutting angle. (more)
